2008 eceee event on Product Efficiency (Brussels 30-31 October 2008)

eceee 2008 event on Product Efficiency, a conference organised by eceee with support from the Australian Environment Department, will be hold at Brussels on October, 30-31 2008.

Most regions of the world have introduced energy labelling schemes to help their consumers make more informed choices and also minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) to remove the most energy inefficient products from the market place. But climate change impacts demonstrate the need for even greater co-ordination and cooperation if the long-promised abatement from energy efficiency programmes is to be realised.

As we are dealing with globally traded products, it is clear that there needs to be greater co-ordination between countries and regions in how we determine and rank good to bad energy performance and set MEPS. The purpose of the conference is to help this global process.

The eceee with support from the Australian Environment Department will organise this conference in Europe involving all the key players, including the EU, members of the new IEA implementing agreement Efficient Electrical End use Equipment and other relevant government bodies.

The conference will provide a forum to exchange information and seek consensus on the methodologies used to establish energy labels and to determine minimum efficiency performance standards around the world. The dialogue will bring support to each regional activity and make it easier and more cost effective to fulfil the aims of the individual programmes.
