Households that cannot afford enough heat for their own health and comfort are defined as Fuel Poverty households (poor housing conditions, low income).
The EPEE project aims to make buildings, particularly those of fuel-poverty victims, more energy-efficient. Fuel poverty is not uniformly identified and has different definitions in each European country, despite similar problems recurring: unpaid energy bills, health and social illnesses, etc.
In recent months EPEE partners have assessed the situation in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain and the UK.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving the situation of fuel-poverty victims has required the active participation of many different actors in the field of housing, energy and poverty.
National workshops attended by all these actors are being organised in the respective partner country in order to share best practices for tackling fuel poverty.
